Showcase Victoria 2024 First Nations Program.

SHOWCASE VICTORIA
FIRST NATIONS PROGRAM

Showcase Victoria 2024 kicked off with a heartfelt Welcome to Country by Tony Garvey on the land of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people. We then moved into experiencing works within our First Nations Program, curated by our First Nations Programming Advisor, Gunditjmara actor and theatre-maker Tom Molyneux.

This featured an excerpt from “MEERTA Rise Up! The Ballad of James Arden” by Dave Arden and pitches from “Of the Land on Which We Meet” by Na Djinang Circus, “Marrow” by Australian Dance Theatre, “The Wet” by Circa Cairns, and “AUNTY” by BEAT Entertainment and Performing Lines. Finally, Tom Molyneux led a discussion with Artistic Director and Custodian Harley Mann, rounding out a fantastic morning. Thank you to everyone who participated in and supported the First Nations Program.

We are delighted that Showcase Victoria can offer a platform for First Nations artists and organisations to share their culture and stories with industry professionals in the arts. Showcase Victoria is proudly presented by The Victorian Association of Performing Arts Centres with support from Regional Arts Victoria and Creative Victoria. This event was sponsored by Jands Pty Ltd and Theatre Safe Australia.
