A biological-musical-comedy-adventure — through the human digestive system!
Synopsis
From the creators of the multi-award-winning “The Alphabet of Awesome Science” comes a brand-new vaudeville-inspired family show that explores the ins and outs of the human digestive system.
YOU are a doughnut. That is, YOU are a great big fleshy lump with a hole running all the way through your middle…
Join biology teacher Oesoph A. Gus and class clown Dewey Dean as they embark upon a brilliant exploration of every twisty tube and remarkable organ — with sketches, songs and sensational science! It’s a fast-paced variety hour, with each new digestive destination inspiring a wonderfully unusual performance.
Along the way you can expect a rainbow collection of puppets, interpretive dance, a game show, enzyme-powered ping-pong balls, a poetry reading, bubbles that burst into fireballs AND (of course) one or two (highly appropriate!) fart jokes.
Brace yourself for the weirdest, grossest (and most fun!) biology class / comedy double act / cabaret / vaudeville performance that you’ll ever experience!

Audience & Marketing Notes
You Are a Doughnut has been created for children aged 5 to 12 (and their adults) and is suitable for both general public as well as school audiences (with teacher notes and resources currently in development).
The show will appeal to people interested in science and, in particular, human biology. However, this is not just a show for ‘science-heads’! The subject matter plays into the natural curiosity we all have for the way our own body’s function.
The show is designed to engage both kids and adults alike — we want all audience members to enjoy this show! Many adult audience members have told us that they were laughing just as hard (if not harder) than their kids…

- General public audiences will love the characters, universally relevant story, original songs and strong visuals, while teachers will be able to use curriculum links and educational resources (in development) to create a highly memorable STEM teaching opportunity
- Audiences will ‘accidentally’ learn about their own bodies whilst being entertained
- The two performers (David Lampard and PJ Oaten) are both vastly experienced children’s entertainers —as stage performers and television actor/presenters
