Otto and Astrid’s Joint Solo Project

Producer: Critical Stages Touring & Salvador Dinosaur
Writer: Otto & Astrid Rot
Directed By: Neill Gladwin

Utterly dysfunctional siblings (and total rock gods) Otto & Astrid are back from Berlin in this riotous and razor-sharp satire of culture wars.

Synopsis

Strap yourselves in for a larger-than-life rock concert as utterly dysfunctional siblings, Otto & Astrid, find it difficult to agree on anything in this riotous and razor-sharp satire of culture wars.

Otto & Astrid are Berlin’s prince and princess of art rock and Europop and the self-proclaimed “Best Band in the World” but have fought for years about the creative direction of their highly anticipated 5th album.

Otto is a bleeding-heart do-gooder, deep into cancel culture, but often his efforts are more talk than action. Astrid may be a feminist, but she is also a nihilist, a hedonist and a libertarian. She uses lies and fake news to get what she wants.

Following considerable discussion (and door slamming), they agreed to tour their new solo albums separately, but after months of searching it became clear that (literally) nobody else would agree to play with them.

Ultimately, they are left with no other choice but to accompany each other on this Joint Solo Project.

Working for the first time with director Neill Gladwin Joint Solo Project is a hilariously cutting satire of cultural polarisation being played out around the world.

Lighting

The lighting is a mixture of rock concert and some theatrical effects. We can work with almost any house rig but some blue & red back-lights and downlights works particularly well. If there were any specials available such as Moving Lights we would definitely use them.

For a full show there are approx. 50 lighting cues to program during the tech. The more ROCK, the better – The lighting operator should indulge their creativity and desire for MORE ROCK!
