Of the Land on Which We Meet

Producer: Na Djinang Circus
Writer: Harley Mann
Directed By: Harley Mann

"We are not the first – nor will we be the last – to walk on this land."

Synopsis

Of The Land on Which We Meet (OTL) is a new Australian Circus Work by self-determined First Nations circus company Na Djinang Circus.  A Judge’s Pick in Melbourne Fringe 2023, OTL is an intimate performance focused on the personal experience of three contemporary circus artists; an INDIGENOUS Australian, a descendant of migrants, and a descendant of colonial settlers.

This piece takes a closer look at the lack of connection contemporary Australians have with the spirituality of this land. Woven with spoken word and using Na Djinang Circus’s unique acrobatic style OTL creates a dynamic and captivating story to rediscover our connection to Country.

Unpacking a rich concept of the acknowledgement we have strategically embedded personal monologues to inform and educate the audience both of the story but also the contextual importance it has.

Short Reviews

This is a show which makes bold and important statements about our relationship with country using eloquence in every aspect of the show. This results in a superb and sublime theatrical event.
