A new work from AWGIE-award winning playwright and novelist Katy Warner
Synopsis
Told through the relationship of three generations of women, GRACE is a world premiere Australian drama about motherhood, finding happiness, and the myths we make to survive.
Grace is a sharp investigation of motherhood, fairy tales, and the notion of that women should put family before career fulfilment. In development throughout 2021/2022, it is an excellent example of contemporary text-based, character-driven theatre.
Using a pressure-cooker structure setting of one room in a limited, linear timeframe, the piece focuses on the relationship between a grandmother, mother and grand/daughter. The piece uses realistic dialogue with moments of poetics and prose. It explores memory and remembrance, and the fairy-tales we tell ourselves and each other.
